The Vision of Ossining Football
Fifteen years ago, it was the dream of several Ossining residents to revitalize the youth football program in the Village and Town of Ossining. At that point, there were approximately 20 players participating in a tackle Pop-Warner program. The plan was to make football accessible to as many youths as possible in Ossining’s diverse community.
Getting kids involved early was important. First, the flag division of the league was developed to include our youngest players, those ages 5-7. Get them eager at an early age; this was the first step for players and parents to be introduced to the game. The interest in the community grew but there were more hurdles to overcome. |

Making it a Reality
At the same time, the decision was made to provide uniforms and equipment to all its players. This lifted the commitment factor and extra financial burden off of the families increasing the enrollment and interest throughout the community. Ossining Little League Football is one of the few programs in the county that provide all the necessary equipment to outfit their tackle players and has it reconditioned annually.
The growth of the league has been exciting and now provides instruction for children K-6th grade. Two hundred children participate each fall and the benefits of this program have been seen by the success of our local high school teams who have had the opportunity to play together for over ten years.
There have been many individuals and sponsors who have helped over the years. The league is run strictly by volunteers and its continued success is due to the many hours given by them. Ossining Little League Football will continue to succeed with the help of your time. Consider volunteering, the rewards are great and will be seen in the faces of the enthusiastic players. |
